Thanks for thinking about joining the crew at the State Theater! Working in a movie theater can be a blast, but it’s not everyone’s idea of a good time. Before you dive in, here are a few things to consider:

• Do you enjoy people? Because you’ll be seeing a lot of them—ticket buyers, popcorn lovers, bathroom wanderers… the whole cast.

• Are you cool with cleaning? Yes, you’ll sell popcorn and tickets, but you’ll also help make sure the theater (and the bathrooms) sparkle when the credits roll.

• Nights and weekends: love them or leave them? We’re open when folks want to see movies, which means you’ll be working those times.

• Action!… and then downtime. The job swings between “everybody wants popcorn right now” and quiet lulls between showtimes.

• The movie biz has its seasons. Sometimes you’ll get lots of hours (hello summer blockbusters), and sometimes it’ll slow down (looking at you, mid-January).
